First Ladies Forum on Children
The First Ladies Forum on Children took
place on Thursday, September 7, 2000 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at
the New York Hilton & Towers Hotel, New York City.
Her Excellency Lidra Meidani of Albania, Her
Excellency Lorena Clare de Rodriguez of Costa Rica, and Her Excellency
Irene Clerides of Cyprus were the Keynote Speakers.
Mrs. Harriet Mayor Fulbright moderated the Forum.
The Forum was co-organized by ICAF and the Whole
Child Initiative at the State of the World Forum 2000.
Distinguished guests included: Dr. Jane Goodall,
President of the Jane Goodall Institute, Professor Eldon Katter,
President of the National Art Education Association, Professor Mark
Cooper, Professor of Art, Boston College, and Claire Garrison, Coordinator
of the Whole Child Initiative.
Raffi, the famous singer for children, sang two
songs at the forum.
The invited First Ladies spoke of the importance
of focusing on children during the United Nations Millennium Summit,
the largest-ever gathering of heads of state and government.
ICAF plans to host First Ladiess Forum
on Children during other major international events as well.
