  2. No. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (non-governmental) organization.
  3. ICAF was incorporated in Washington, DC in 1997.
  4. We are associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations, and an extensive array of public, private, and governmental organizations worldwide. See our Partner page for the most recent information.
  5. Our established partner network covers more than 80 countries.
  6. Our funding comes from individuals, corporations and foundations, through the sale of ICAF products and subscriptions to ChildArt magazine.
  7. Our headquarters are located in Washington, DC. We have representative offices in a few countries.
  8. "Arts Olympiad" is the name of our comprehensive art program, which includes a global art competition as well as local, regional and international festivals and exhibitions.
  9. "World Children's Festival" is the name of the international festival we hold once every four years. It is the culmination of the Arts Olympiad competition, and is traditionally held on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The finalists from every participating country or US state and territory are invited to participate inthis one-week educational event, accompanied by their teachers and parents.
  10. "Peace Through Art" is the aproach we use to reduce conflict between very different groups of children. We use this approach to prepare the children when they first meet at the World Children's Festival, and have also successfully used it in other settings.
