Internships

We need your help. The ICAF is a small, creative nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. whose work is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and interns from around the world.

We have had a successful internship program since 1997 when the ICAF was founded. The ICAF has attracted students from a wide variety of programs, including communication, international studies, event management, and art therapy. Interns from France, Germany, India, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Sweden and Japan have helped the ICAF in recent years. All internships are unpaid. We work with students who wish to obtain academic credit or meet other requirements. In January/February 2008, eleven students from universities in the U.S. and overseas were helping the ICAF.

See photos of some of our volunteers and interns at work (and play!).

Who may apply: College or university students in any accredited degree, undergraduate or graduate program; and international students.

Time commitment: ICAF asks interns to work with us for a semester or full academic year (preferred), putting in at least one full day per week. Summer interns work a minimum of 20 hours per week. As we invest some time training our interns so they can do substantive work, we generally do not accept internship period of less than 2 months.

Positions available: Please see our current listings on www.volunteermatch.org and www.idealist.org.
