CONTACT: Media Relations DC Mayor Anthony Williams Declares September 11, 2003 "Children's Peace Day"Washington, DC Mayor Anthony Williams commemorated the second anniversary of the World Trade Center tragedy by issuing an official proclamation declaring September 11, 2003 as "Children's Peace Day". After his proclamation, a moment of silence was observed, at 10:02am. Mayor Williams' declaration was part of the International Child Art Foundation's 2003 ChildArt Festival, held from September 9-11 on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The proclamation was a highlight of the opening ceremony of the third day of the event, themed "Children's Peace Day". The ceremony included national and international dignitaries, including H. H. Sheikha Hala Bint Daij Al-Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain; H.E. Mary Note, First Lady of the Marshall Islands; Dr. Saif Al Hajari, Vice Chairman, Qatar Foundation; Lt. Gen. Joseph Cosumano and Mrs. Lydia Cosumano, US Army Space and Missile Defense Command; Vice Admiral Moore and Mrs. Lydia Moore, Navy Pentagon; Mrs. Dorothy Pierce McSweeny; and ICAF's Chairman Mrs. Harriet M. Fulbright. Entertainment on the World Stage was provided by theatre group Kuwaiti Children's Performers; singer Laura Collins; The Guild of Nigerian Dancers; and the Washington Vocal Artists.
