ICAF INTRODUCES CHILDREN'S UTOPIAS IN THE UTOPIA STATION
The International Child Art Foundation's (ICAF) newest exhibit explores the personal Utopias of children from around the world.

WHAT: Children from around the world created artworks on the theme "Utopia - children imagine and paint their future." Young artists ages 4-18 from 70 countries submitted drawings, collages, photographs, and poems illustrating their visions of utopia. The exhibition curators for Haus der Kunst in Munich are Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Rirkrit Tiravanija. A second exhibition sponsored by Ed/Meiers Art is at Odeonsplatz subway station in downtown Munich; the vitrines have been designed by the famous Italian designer, Enzo Mari. Young artists across Germany as well as Austria, Croatia, Georgia, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the United States will participate in the exhibition openings and collaboratively create art. View selected utopias online at www.icaf.org/resources/artgallery/icafgallery.htm.

WHY: Following the exhibition of works by contemporary artists during the 2003 Venice Biennale, in 2004 the Utopia Station organizers invited the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) to introduce children's utopias. ICAF believes that the children's messages need to be heard because these works of art show how children from all different walks of life see the future of the world around them. After all, the future is what children make of it!
