CONTACT: Rachel Lau CHILDREN'S UTOPIAS ON EXHIBIT IN MUNICHThe International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) introduces children's utopias at the Utopia Station Exhibition at Haus der Kunst and at Odeonsplatz in Munich, Germany. The exhibition features artwork from young artists aged 4 to 18 from around the world, on the theme "Utopia - children imagine and paint their future." The first utopia station was organized for the Venice Biennale in 2003. This year's exhibition was cuarted at House der Kunst by Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Rirkrit Tiravanija. The exhibition was announced at a press conference in which Yoko Ono Lennon participated with her "Imagine Peace" poster. The Haus der Kunst exhibition will end on January 16, 2005, and then travel to Porto Alegre, Brazil, for the Annual Meeting of the World Social Forum on January 26-31, 2005. The display of children's utopias at Odeonsplatz subway station in central Munich was designed by the famous Italian designer, Enzo Mari. During the week of October 4th, ICAF inivited young artists from around the world to Munich and arranged activities for them, including art workshops at Haus der Kunst, an exhibition at Kunstraum Wild, and a farewell meeting at Kunstlerhaus. Children and their teachers and parents from several countries including Austria, Croatia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the United States participated. ICAF's national partners from Romania and India attended the events. Elliot Frank, a thirteen year old artist from Colorado, USA, served as ICAF's spokesperson and empahized the need for arts and creativity education in interviews with German and European media. Supporters of Utopia Station and children's utopia include the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the BMW Group and Ed/Meier's Art.
