CONTACT: Media Relations Art Auction at Youth Mega-Event to Support Healing ArtsTo support children's emotional development and trauma recovery, the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) will hold a silent auction of artworks created by child survivors of the Indian Ocean tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. The auction will be organized as part of the Youth Marketing Mega-Event, taking place at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa on March 27th and 28th. The nine original artworks to be auctioned were featured in the World Bank Art Program's December 2005 exhibition and lecture series, Destruction, Reconstruction and Prevention. Proceeds from the auction will support ICAF's Healing Arts Program, to pair volunteer art therapists with elementary school teachers in the Gulf, and to support the children's participation in ICAF's World Children's Festival in June 2007 on the National Mall. The World Children's Festival will demonstrate the interplay of art, sport and ICT, through three day-long programs on sport and health, arts and creativity, and 21st century skills and leadership. "We are thrilled to be supporting ICAF at our annual Youth Marketing Mega Event" said Conference Producer, Krista Iverson. "With hundreds of attendees at the event, we are eager to support ICAF's Healing Arts Program and generate awareness of this unique organization." The International Child Art Foundation is a leading national art and creativity organization for children in the United States, and the only international non-governmental organization that promotes children's creative development and cross-cultural cooperation through the arts. ICAF's flagship program, the Arts Olympiad, is a global art competition free and open to all children ages 8 to 12. More than 3 million children in nearly 100 countries are expected to participate in the current painting and digital art competition: My Favorite Sport. By employing the visual and digital arts to heal, inspire and unify children across the globe, ICAF seeks to nurture children's innate creativity and intrinsic empathy, to foster global citizenship and creative communities, and to act as a catalyst for children's leadership development.
