May 8, 2007 CONTACT: NSBA ENDORSES THE WORLD CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL The Board of Director of the National School Boards Association endorsed the 2007 World Children’s Festival in their recent meeting. The World Children’s Festival to be held on June 23-25, 2007 on the National Mall in Washington, DC is the world’s largest celebration of children’s creativity and imagination. Hosted every four years by the International Child Art Foundation, the World Festival is part of the Arts Olympiad of the ICAF. Young performers and musicians join the visual artists and artist-athletes on the National Mall, where famous artists co-create art with the children, who discover the power of their collaborative creativity. Leading educators and experts offer workshops on topics ranging from art therapy to animation, and provide training on subjects ranging from peace education to creative leadership. The World Festival integrates the arts with science, sport and technology to create a complete synesthetic experience – a total work of art that transforms the National Mall. The Festival heals, inspires and unifies the children, and becomes a turning point in their lives, a touchstone to guide them in the future. NSBA's governing body, its 25-member Board of Directors, includes four officers and 15 directors (three from each of NSBA's five regions, who are elected to staggered three-year terms). In addition, NSBA has six ex officio board members. These board members represent the Council of Urban Boards of Education, the National Caucus of Black School Board Members, the National Caucus of Hispanic School Board Members, the Chairman of NSBA's Liaison Committee with its Federation Members, the Chairman of the Council of School Attorneys, and NSBA's Executive Director. The ICAF serves as the national art and creativity organization for American
children and the only international art for the world’s children. A 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization registered in April 1997 in the District of Columbia,
the ICAF integrates the art with science, sport and technology to nurture children’s
creativity and develop empathy - preconditions for a more just, prosperous
and nonviolent world. To demonstrate your support for the children and their
World Festival, kindly make a donation to ICAF and mail your check today to
