ICAF's Third Arts Olympiad (2005-2008): Art and Sport

ICAF's Third Arts Olympiad (2005-2008): Art and Sport

ICAF organizes an Arts Olympiad every four years, just like the Olympics. The Olympiad is an international art competition with a theme. This year, the theme is "Art and Sport." Do you ever notice how both art and sport can help you connect with others? Playing sports helps you develop team spirit, while the creativity you gain from making and viewing art can help you understand and communicate with other cultures. The ICAF Arts Olympiad will include national and regional festivals and exhibitions.

The big finale will be the World Art and Sport Festival in Washington DC. I'm so excited! Are you? - ICAFFY

You could be chosen to represent your state or your country at the World Art and Sport Festival in Washington, DC! Here's how: create an original artwork on the theme "My Favorite Sport". When you are creating your artwork, think about how making art and playing sports make you feel. Are you an artist-athlete? What role do sports play in your life and the life of your community? You can show an Olympic sport, a non-olympic sport, or a sport that is special to your own culture.

Hey look, there's a new category for artwork submissions! - ICAFFY

You can submit a painting or drawing OR a piece of digital art on the "My Favorite Sport" theme. Digital art can include images made with painting software, or digital collages made with images from a digital camera.

If your artwork is selected as your State Finalist (for US schools) or Country Finalist (for countries other than the US), you will receive an invitation from ICAF to come to Washington DC. You will also win the ICAF Scholarship Award, which will enable you to participate free of any fees in the World Art and Sport Festival in Washington, DC.

  1. Tell your teacher about ICAF and about our Arts Olympiad. Your teacher will organize an art competition on the theme, My Favorite Sport. Your schoolteachers will then select one representative artwork as your school's entry and mail it to ICAF for consideration as your state or country finalist.
  2. You can participate in the program on your own. Make your art on the theme, My Favorite Sport. Download the Artwork Entry Form, complete it and have your parent sign it, and tape it to the back of your artwork. Then carefully package it (flat if possible) and mail it to:
International Child Art Foundation
1350 Connecticut Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20036
USA

When ICAF receives your artwork, it will be included in the entries from your state or country.

ICAF will notify you if you are a finalist.
